										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h1>We landed in Bangkok Christmas morning with way too many plans than one day would allow.</h1>
<p><span class="big-letter">T</span>he city is a gigantic web of confusing road systems, so we had to spend part of the day locating and booking the three main things: Hotel, restaurant and Thai boxing:</p>
<h2>1. Hotel Luxury</h2>
<p>Bangkok is loaded with hotels, so it is easy to find large sized rooms for very little money. We booked nothing less than an apartment of 70 m2 in the new and trendy area Sukhumvit. We felt a bit little like pop stars when we checked in. The apartment was amazing, the location was perfect and the rooftop pool offered a beautiful view of the skyline. Wauw, this place was a Christmas gift in itself.</p>
<h2>2. Christmas food</h2>
<p>We quickly agreed that we might as well go all the way with this somewhat untraditional way of spending Christmas evening. Therefore we started by booking a table at a sushi restaurant that for several years in a row has been voted one of the best restaurants in the city. Hallelujah, it tasted good! The chef&#8217;s signature dish was a sushi sandwich. Agreed, it does not sound very gourmet. But it really really was.  Angels came down and sang beside us every time we took a bite &#8230; Christmas Duck, go home!</p>
<h2>Evening entertainment</h2>
<p>Martin has a tradition on Christmas Eve, where he watches a very specific Christmas movie. But even though it seems like everything is possible in this city, limits presents themselves when trying to find &#8220;National Lampoon&#8217;s Christmas Vacation&#8221; on one of the local TV channels.</p>
<p>The hero of the evening entertainment had to be of a very different character &#8211; and what is more natural than to experience Thai boxing? We bought two tickets close to the ring, to make sure that blind Mette could see the little men and that Martin got it all on his own widescreen. Oh dear, we got it all – 3 hours of brutal Thai guys beating each other like it was the most natural thing in the world &#8230; It was top class entertainment.</p>
